A dramatic real estate saga is coming full circle: the iconic Malibu home designed by Japanese master architect Tadao Ando—once gutted and abandoned by Kanye West—is finally getting a fresh start.
From $57M Vision to Concrete Shell
Kanye West bought the beachfront property in 2021 for $57.3 million and promptly stripped it bare—removing windows, plumbing, wiring, and even the roof in pursuit of a minimalist, bunker-like vision. What was meant to be a brutalist masterpiece turned into an uninhabitable concrete husk.

Rescue and Restoration
After failed attempts to sell it in 2023, Belwood Investments stepped in, scooping up the property for just $21 million in 2024. They poured another $8.5 million into essential restorations—plumbing, roof, electricity—working with top design firm Marmol Radziner to honor Ando’s original concept.
A New Owner Steps In
Now, Andrew Mazzella Ventures, a Montana-based luxury developer, has agreed to buy the home for an estimated $30–34 million. The deal is set to close May 1. Mazzella plans to finish the restoration, potentially relisting the home for up to $65 million.
A Comeback in the Making
Once a symbol of artistic chaos, Ando’s Malibu house may soon return as a showcase of modern architectural purity—just not quite the way Ye envisioned it.
